Volkswagen's chief labour representative on Monday said he would not stand by as management cuts production volumes at the factory.

"Should Golf volumes actually be moved to Wolfsburg, then we expect that Brussels would receive an alternative model," VW works council boss Bernd Osterloh told Reuters.

The news agency noted that VW's Brussels plant has long been subject to speculation over a potential closure.

About 5,000 employees build the Golf in Brussels, a model that is mainly manufactured in Volkswagen's under-utilised Wolfsburg plant, the report added.
