VW's Indian factory built its 100,000th car in the first days of the second half

Volkswagen Group India sold 55,091 cars in the first half of 2011 compared to 17,367 a year ago.

“The progress in sales figures show the building confidence of our customers in our products across the three brands Audi, Skoda and Volkswagen.” said local chief John Chacko.

Audi launched four new models in the first half and saw sales up just over 100% to 2,802 cars. Skoda sales rose almost 50% to 14,611 and Volkswagen brand deliveries tallied 37,678 versus 6,202 in H1 2010.
