CHINA: Visteon opens new climate control plant
Visteon has officially opened a manufacturing plant in Dalian, China, which will produce air conditioning components for a variety of auto manufacturers.
The Halla Climate Control (Dalian) facility will make compressors and sub-components for automakers in China and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region.
Visteon owns 70% of the equity shares of Halla Climate Control (HCC).
Noted Visteon senior vice president and president of its Asia Pacific customer group, Robert Pallash: "Halla Climate Control is a market leader in Korea and a source for operational excellence in Asia Pacific. We intend to leverage their expertise to provide high-quality products in China."
This is the second plant for Visteon and HCC in China; the first is in Beijing. Halla also operates three plants in Korea.
Visteon said HCC is particularly well positioned to serve Beijing Hyundai Motor Company which produces Elantra, Tucson, Accent and Sonata models in China. It will also supply other major automakers in China.
The 90,000-square meter plant is a greenfield facility capable of producing advanced environmentally friendly compressors. The plant will have more than 300 employees and a planned production capacity of 1m units annually.
Visteon operates around 30 manufacturing facilities in China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines and India, supplying both global and regional automakers.
