SOUTH AFRICA: Visteon opens facility to supply local Ford engine plant
Visteon has opened its first manufacturing and assembly facility in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, designed to support the manufacture of air fuel charge assemblies for the 1.3 litre RoCam engine, in the Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta. The facility, which covers about 2,300 square-meters, has the capacity to build 240,000 units per annum - or one unit every minute. It will operate a two-shift production system with over 50 employees at full production to manufacture, assemble and ship to the Ford engine plant, eight kilometres away.
