USA: Vehicle sales up 8.6% year on year
US vehicle sales in July were up 8.6% from 2001, writes Bill Cawthon. Ward'sAuto.com reported that automakers combined to move more than 1.5 million new cars and light trucks last month as the variety of incentives offered by most of the major players kept the market hot. Light trucks, including SUVs and minivans, captured well over half of the sales. Foreign-badged cars maintained their lead over the competition from Detroit's 'Big Three'.
