Car tyre output at the Amtel-Chernozemye plant rose 8.2% year on year to 1.346m units in the first half, a petrochemical industry source told Prime-Tass on Friday.

The plant's total tyre output, including those for trucks and agricultural equipment, fell 14.8% to 1.375m units.

In 2005, Amtel-Chernozemye produced 2.901m tires, up 19.8% year on year.

Amtel-Chernozemye is part of Russian tire producer Amtel-Vredestein which comprises the Amtel-Povolzhye, Amtel-Chernozemye and Amtel-Kuzbass tyre plants, as well as two chemical plants, Volgograd-based Amtel-Karbon, and the Netherlands-based Vredestein Banden tyre company.
