Toyota Motor Corp. said Monday (31/7/00) that it is to spend billions of yen in increasing output at its British factory by 30 per cent to around 230,000 vehicles a year in 2001, reports Kyodo News Service/Associated Press (1/8/00). Currently producing both the Avensis and the five-door Corolla models at a combined rate of 180,000 cars per year at its Derby plant, Toyota is set to begin production of its three-door Corolla hatchback car at the site at a rate of 50,000 per annum.
