Toyota has said it will temporarily hire 200 to 300 workers on loan from about forty equipment makers in order to 'support its partners through tough business conditions'.

Kyodo reported that the makers of machine tools and other equipment currently have too many employees at hand due to a drop in Toyota-related orders.

The report said that Toyota plans to assign the workers to take charge of maintaining manufacturing equipment and other jobs.

It added that Panasonic EV Energy Co., a joint battery venture between Toyota and Panasonic Corp., has also begun to accept about 230 employees from Yamaha Motor Co.

Yamaha Motor and Toyota have ties in such areas as development and the manufacturing of engines, the report added.
