Toyota is staying with its current global vehicle sales plan for 2008 and doesn't know yet whether it will need a review, a company spokeswoman said on Tuesday.

The comments to Dow Jones came after the Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported the automaker was in final preparations to lower its group sales target for 2008 partly due to the US sub-prime loan problem and a slow-down in luxury car sales in China.

Toyota's 2008 global sales target - set last December - is 9.85m vehicles, up 5% on year, including Daihatsu and Hino, the news agency noted.
