JAPAN: Toyota 2012 domestic sales rise 42%

Toyota sold 1,537,371 new passenger cars in Japan in 2012, up 42.4% year on year. Total sales rose 40.9% to 1,692,228.

Car export rose 25.5% to 1,750,237 and total shipments were up 24% to 1,945,688 units.

Production outside Japan was up 25.8% to 5,243,616 units while total global output rose 26.1% to 8,736,529.

Global sales rose 22.8% to 8,717,000 of which 7,025,000 (+19.2%) were outside Japan.

Including minicar and LCV maker Daihatsu and truckmaker Hino, worldwide group output was up 26.1% to 9,909,440 with 5,489,282 (+25.5%) built outside Japan.

Global sales rose 22.6% to 9,748 with 7,336,000 (+19%) outside Japan.

TMC Announces Results for December 2012 and CY2012

Toyota City, Japan, January 28, 2013—Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces its production, domestic sales and export results, including those for subsidiaries Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd. and Hino Motors, Ltd., for December 2012 and for CY2012. TMC also issues today its CY2012 worldwide sales results.
