Sales of SUVs in South Korea have reached an all-time high of 300,475 units in the first 11 months of 2014.

This reflects strong demand for recreational vehicles in the country and the growing range of small SUVs available. SUVs now account for almost 28% of total vehicle sales, including commercial vehicles.

The SUV segment peaked at 30.6% of the market some 10 years ago after which growing fuel-efficiency concerns encouraged sales of passenger cars.
