The Korea Times reports that Hyundai's car manufacturing operations are being threatened by an industrial dispute over pay.

The report says that the local labour union has been on a 'limited strike' since June 10 is threatening a full-scale strike unless management accepts its wage demands.

The union is seeking a 128,880 won but the company is offering a 77,800-won wage rise and an increase to bonus payments.

The Korea Times suggests that the gap between the two sides looks large and that Hyundai is worried that any extension of union action could taint its corporate image with the World Cup in full swing.
