SRI Group's Japanese tyre factory at Shirakawa has stopped manufacturing operations due to an energy black out coupled with damage to the building following the country's massive earthquake last Friday (11 March).

Despite the stop in output, the company nonetheless notes it has "set to work for resuming production, investigating the extent of the damage."

In a statement, SRI added it had been collating information about supply from the other Nagoya, Izumi-Ohtsu and Miyazaki factories, which produce most of the Falken products and are undamaged.

"Fortunately, all the SRI group employees and their families have been confirmed uninjured," it noted.
