Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (Group), China's second biggest automotive group, on Friday said it expected its passenger car sales this year to exceed 580,000 units, implying a year on year growth rate of at least 45%, Dow Jones Newswires reported.

SAIC president Hu Maoyuan reportedly said the car maker, the local partner of General Motors and Volkswagen, sold around 400,000 passenger cars last year.

SAIC sold 419,000 cars between January and September this year, the Dow Jones report noted.
