Renault has commenced pre-launch hype for its new D-segment Laguna due to be revealed on 4 June.

"New Laguna is pivotal to Renault Commitment 2009, both as the spearhead for the company's push upmarket and for emphasising the significant quality progress which the company has made in recent years, most recently with Clio and Modus which, according to recent external quality and reliability indicators, are already in the upper echelons of their segments," the French automaker said.

"With a commitment to rank in the top three in its segment for product and service quality, quality has been integral to the X91 project (new Laguna) from the outset. Developed with the most stringent quality requirements, new Laguna shows elements reflecting the intensive work carried out in the cabin, with particular attention paid to the quality of materials used and the standard of fit and finish, which will undoubtedly draw comparison with those of its premium rivals."

The company has released a series of preview photos showing parts of the new car which will have a centrally-mounted multi-media control system and electronic handbrake.

The UK unit has also launched a preview website where further details of the car will gradually be revealed closer to the official launch.

Currently showing is a short movie of the new car undergoing hot weather testing in Malaysia, in the hands, Renault said, of F1 team drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen.
