Alain Visser, General Motors Europe's sales, marketing and aftersales chief for the Opel brand, will become global Chevrolet marketing chief on 1 March, for all markets outside North and South America.

"This appointment is part of a realignment of global marketing responsibilities for Chevrolet to further propel momentum and growth of General Motor's (GM) largest brand," the automaker said in a statement.

Visser will take charge of defining Chevrolet's brand differentiation strategy, for overseeing marketing strategies, and for enhancing alignment in all Chevrolet markets outside of North and South America. He will report to Joel Ewanick, GM's chief marketing officer.
