Online retailer of ex-fleet cars has announced the appointment of Sir Trevor Chinn as chairman. He is also an investor in the company.

Chinn is well known in the UK car retail sector having had a long career with Lex.

He is currently an adviser to CVC Capital Partners and Chairman of ITIS plc and Streetcar.

Chinn said: " is at the forefront of a dynamic shift in the used car market from forecourt to online. The developing landscape and technological capabilities of the internet continue to create exciting new business opportunities for this sector.

"With a pioneering digital platform that delivers the highest standards of service and value to both fleet and retail customers, it's not surprising Carsite is experiencing impressive levels of growth," he added.

"I'm very much looking forward to combining my experience with their innovative, process driven and cost saving approach.'

Welcoming Chinn as an investor and its chairman, managing director, Douglas Rotberg, said: "It goes without saying, his vast experience and understanding of both sides of our business will prove invaluable as we mature the Carsite brand.

"We have embarked on a significant new chapter in 2010 and Sir Trevor's arrival helps signal our direction and intent."

Carsite says it experienced strong growth in 2009, with sales up 109% on the previous year and site visits also up 93% compared with the same period in 2008.
