US: Nissan recruits new marketing chief from Hyundai

Nissan North America has named former Hyundai Motor America marketing chief Joel Ewanick vice president, marketing, Nissan Division, effective 22 March.  He replaces Christian Meunier, named president of Nissan Brazil, on 5 February.

Ewanick will be responsible for all marketing activities for Nissan brand products in the United States, including marketing communications, C&I, pricing and product management.

White at Hyundai, Ewanick developed last year's Hyundai Assurance Programme which doubled the percentage of US customers willing to consider the brand.

Also while at Hyundai, he earned accolades such as Chief Marketing Officer of the Year (2009) from Forbes, Grand Marketer of the Year (2009) from Brandweek and Marketer of the Year (2009) from Advertising Age.

Ewanick has also worked for Porsche Cars North America in Atlanta.
