US: New Dana Europe boss named

Arvin Meritor veteran Aziz Aghili has joined Dana Corporation as president of Europe. Dana has 19 operations in 10 European countries and reported sales of US$2.4bn in the region last year.

"Aziz is a respected leader who brings a wealth of operational and functional expertise to our European operations," said Dana president and CEO Jim Sweetnam. "He also brings deep global experience and relationships that will help maximise our growth potential in this important region."

Aghili has spent 20 years at ArvinMeritor, most recently serving as vice president and general manager of body systems, a US$1.4bn division with 24 global manufacturing facilities based in Europe. He also worked several years in the US, Malaysia, and Australia.

Back from two weeks' 'holiday at home' (not entirely my first choice; do not mention the words 'Iceland' or 'volcano') to a mixed week for the auto biz. ArvinMeritor, which last month said it was on course to exit the passenger car parts sector by the end of the year, on Tuesday said sales and operating and net profits for the second fiscal quarter of 2010 were up year on year.
