SINGAPORE: Mitsui to build automotive resin plant
Mitsui Chemicals is to build a Singapore factory to manufacture a high-performance resin used in vehicle bumpers. It should be in operation by the end of 2002, and will cost Y10 billion (US$84 million). The new factory will increase elastomer resin production by 100,000 tonnes, almost doubling annual output. Mitsui will export 10,000 tons to Japan, with 90,000 tons allocated to the rest of Asia, the US and Europe.
