Mazda has upgraded its Japanese-market Bongo (E-series) van and truck models, which go on sale from today.

All Bongo models comply with the latest regulatory vehicle noise level (2001) while the petrol powered models are certified as Japanese G-LEV (Good-Low Emission Vehicle).

Mazda will submit applications to designate the Bongo Van and Truck models as low-emission vehicles in seven prefectures and cities in the Tokyo metropolitan area and in six prefectures and cities in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area.

The DX, the flagship Bongo van grade, has added previously optional equipment such as power windows and remote control passenger side-view mirror as standard and all models produced from October 1 will also have a driver airbag as standard equipment.

The monthly sales target is 1,000 units.
