CHINA: Local Honda affiliate first to make automatic transmissions
Honda will become the first Japanese carmaker to manufacture automatic transmissions in China this November. The $US8.3 million investment in local production is seen as significant for the development of the Chinese car industry because an automatic transmission is one of the most complex components in a vehicle and requires precision machinery and considerable skill to make.
