Toyota is reportedly dropping the SC430 coupe-cabriolet from its Lexus line

Toyota Motor has said it will stop building the Lexus SC luxury coupe-cabriolet [also known in Japan as the Toyota Soarer] at the end of July due to sluggish sales, according to Japanese media reports.

The SC430 was launched in Japan in August 2005 as a successor to the popular Soarer when Toyota introduced its luxury Lexus brand there. Lexus, launched in 1989 in the US, had previously been an export-only brand.

The SC430 initially was popular in Japan but sales fell following the start of recession there.

Toyota spokesmen in Japan could not be reached immediately for comment outside business hours.
