UK: Land Rover celebrates record sales
Land Rover, Ford's UK-based off-road specialist, is celebrating record sales in the UK with over 25,000 vehicles sold in the first six months of the year - 15% up on the same period in 2000. The company reports that it is taking some 38% of the 4 x 4 vehicle market. Land Rover's leading model is its small RAV-4 fighter, the Freelander. The latest versions of this compact off-roader have spearheaded an increase in sales of 27%, with sales of 13,853 vehicles in the first half.
