Kia has said that the star of its display at the 2009 Salon de l'Automobile in Geneva at the beginning of March will 'redefine the mini MPV segment bringing style and cool to what is currently a bland segment of the new car market'.
It says the concept of a forthcoming all-new model will feature a 'dramatic glass-roof treatment and will provide astounding spaciousness in a compact package'.
The concept is expected to be called Kia YN and is smaller than a Cee'd, but based on the same platform as the upcoming Soul.
The mini MPV market segment is occupied by supermini platform based cars such as Vauxhall/Opel's Meriva and Nissan Note.
The Geneva car is the first Kia to be designed from conception by Peter Schreyer, who formerly worked as a designer for Audi.
Sectors: Vehicle manufacturers, Vehicle manufacturing
Companies: Kia, Vauxhall, Opel, Nissan, Audi
