Australian Bureau of Statistics figures show that Kia was the fastest growing automotive brand in Australia, with a 39% growth rate during the 12 months to 31 March 2002, the latest period studied.

Kia's Australian growth places it ahead of Audi, which recorded a 15% increase, and Subaru's 11%.

Kia expects its Australian growth to continue with the launch of the Pregio van, which is selling at a rate of up to three times its planned volume, and the continued strength of the Carnival, the most popular 'people mover' (minivan) in Australia, as well as the arrival of the new Sorento, Rio and Optima models early in 2003.
