UK: July car sales down - SMMT
New car registrations were down 6.4% on the same month last year, say UK media reports (7/8/00) citing the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Demand also decreased within the private-buyers sector in July as they awaited the new X-registrations, says the data. According to the SMMT, new car sales were down due to record-high sales in July 1999.
