The Land Rover Discovery Sport's size and market price positioning suggest it would be tailor-made for Brazilian buyers

Local rumour suggests Tata Motors' Land Rover will kick-start production at its new manufacturing plant in Itatiaia, 110 miles west-northwest of Rio de Janeiro City, in 2016 with the new Discovery Sport, to be unveiled at the Paris show this week.

The British brand has not confirmed this, however, but the model's size and market price positioning suggest it would be tailor-made for Brazilian buyers.

The imported Freelander 2 is sold here for BRL173,000/US$72,000.

The Discovery Sport will also be displayed here at the São Paulo show later in October.

It is likely the Jaguar XE is also in the pipeline for local assembly along with the Range Rover Evoque, by far the best-selling JLR product in Brazil.
