BRAZIL: Honda sets sales record in Brazil
Honda has reported its best sales in Brazil since it started operations there in 1992, writes Rogério Louro Alvez. The Japanese automaker sold 19,686 cars last year, an increase of 15.1 percent over 1999's total of 17,102. The Honda Civic, with 19,039 units sold, was Honda's most popular model in 2000. The local Civic specification is unique to Brazil and CKD production started in 1997 in the Sumare plant in São Paulo state.
