UK: GM Vauxhall offers breakdown insurance for out-of-warranty models
General Motors’ UK operation Vauxhall has launched a new vehicle repair insurance scheme aimed particularly at drivers of older vehicles out of warranty.
Priced from £39 a year, the scheme offers parts and labour coverage up to £2,000 in any one year.
Most Vauxhall cars between three and eight years old are eligible under the new scheme, which offers four levels of cover.
MasterCover ServiceLink Plan 1 at £39 covers most engine components, including valves, cylinder head gasket and oil pump, together with both manual and automatic gearbox parts.
Plan 2 adds items from the cooling and fuel systems including the water pump and thermostat, plus fuel pump, carburettor and fuel injection for £59. Key electrical components such as the alternator, starter motor and engine management system are included in Plan 3 at £79.
The most comprehensive package is Plan 4 at £129. This covers all of the mechanical and electrical components that were original equipment parts, except for wear and tear.
For customers without breakdown cover, all four plans also provide £50 towards breakdown recovery where the cause of the breakdown is an item covered by the policy. All policies are valid for 12 months/10,000 miles.
