US: GM to cut production, lay off workers at Orion plant
General Motors plans to manufacture fewer Buick Veranos and Chevrolet Sonics at its Orion Township assembly plant.
The company will also lay off around 100 plant workers from July to the end of 2015.
GM spokesman Christopher Bonelli said the automaker is "adjusting production capacity to better meet market demand."
During the first five months of 2015, Verano sales dropped 15.6% year over year while Sonic sales fell 28.5%, the Detroit Free Press reported.
