BRAZIL: GM changes tack to voluntary job cuts - report
Citing slow sales, General Motors this week began a programme inviting some of its 17,000 Brazilian workers to voluntarily leave their jobs, Bloomberg News reported. Union officials at the company's plant in Sao Caetano do Sul had said GM was planning to lay off 350 workers but, in the wake of work slowdowns and protests on Monday, GM decided to offer the voluntary programme instead, the report added.
