GERMANY: General Motors Europe launches new twinport and direct injection engines
General Motors Europe is introducing a range of newly developed Ecotec petrol and diesel engines which meet Euro 4 emission standards, and deliver high specific power with low fuel consumption. With the face-lifted Vauxhall/Opel Corsa this summer, Vauxhall will introduce two new petrol engines – a 1.0 and 1.4 litre – using twinport technology. These new engines achieve fuel savings of up to 23% compared to the current models, depending on the gearbox. GME will also debut the new 70hp 1.3 CDTI Ecotec in the Corsa, the smallest four-cylinder common rail turbo-diesel in the world. Fuel consumption of 58.3 mpg is achieved thanks to its innovative multi-injection system.
