Ford of Europe has updated its Focus-based, five-seat C-Max MAV (for multi-activity vehicle) for 2007, three years after launch.

The revised model, with a nose facelift to bring its looks into line with the larger and newer S-Max and Galaxy, new rear lights and numerous other detail changes, makes its debut at the Geneva show next month.

Ford said the redesigned front end incorporates elements of its "kinetic design form language which combines hard lines with muscular, flowing forms to represent a feeling of energy in motion even when the vehicle is stationary".

The most distinctive feature of the new front end is the new trapezoidal lower grille which combines with a new upper grille, headlamps and three-plane bonnet.

At the rear, the updated C-Max has a new bumper and redesigned vertical tail lamps which now use LED technology (a first for Ford Europe) through clear lenses.

When bi-xenon headlamps are fitted as an option, a distinctive light strip runs along the top line of the lamp unit and replaces conventional parking light bulbs. These strips feature light blue illumination.

A new option is a panorama glass roof. Covering almost the entire roof area and maximising light and visibility, dark-tinted to avoid glare, it has internal blinds that can be closed to provide shade and privacy when required. The panorama roof has a 'Solar Reflect' coating to minimise heat intrusion. Another new feature is blue glass for the top Titanium series.

Dashboard lighting is now red and new optional Sony entertainment systems are available along with portable audio connectivity. There are numerous other interior changes including redesigned centre console and new trim materials. Mechancial changes include a 5mm wider track.

An adaptive front lighting system is available with conventional halogen lamps which swivel in corners to provide better illumination.

The new model goes on sale across Europe from April 2007.
