Ford's F-series truck line was again the best-selling single vehicle model line in the US last year, with sales of 413,625 units. Next best was Toyota's Camry with 356,824 sales.

The automaker claimed the truck outsold its nearest competitor - Chevrolet's Silverado - by just over 97,000 units - the largest such margin for three years.

For the 28th consecutive year, the F-series was America's best-selling vehicle of any type.

December sales for the model were 48,209, a 16% rise and the best sales month since March 2008.
