INDIA: Exports surge 60% in H1, led by Maruti Alto
Figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers show that exports of Indian-made vehicles surged by 60% over year-ago levels during the April-September period (first half of India's fiscal year) to stand at 131,000 units. Exports of Suzuki subsidiary Maruti Udyog - the biggest gainer - increased by 136.1% to 10,961 units following increased demand of its premium small car 'Alto', mainly in Europe.
