Duerr AG, the largest maker of car painting equipment, has won an order worth 100 million deutsche marks ($US45 million) from Volkswagen AG to modernise its Puebla, Mexico, plant which makes the Beetle and Jetta (Bora) mainly for U.S. and Canadian sale.

According to a Bloomberg News report, Duerr's paint systems business unit will replace existing plant with a new paint shop which can handle 600 vehicle bodies daily, the company said in a statement to the German stock exchange.

"VW's new paint shop represents investment to improve quality, environmental protection and efficiency,'' Duerr reportedly said in its statement.
