USA: Delphi occupant sensor airbag technology debuts on GM trucks
New General Motors trucks have Delphi's Recognition passive occupant detection system with a seat belt tension sensor, making them some of the first vehicles to fully comply with the recently enacted FMVSS 208 regulations that require an advanced airbag system. GM's 2003 Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Denali and Cadillac Escalade brands currently being launched in the US include the Delphi-developed, silicone-based weight sensing technology mounted under the passenger seat cushion.
