DaimlerChrysler has priced its first two Maybach luxury saloon models at 310,000 euros ($US287,000) for the '57' while the '62' stickers from 360,000 euros ($333,000).

Priced to rival new models from Rolls-Royce (marketed by BMW from 2003) and VW-owned Bentley, Maybach deliveries start late this year with DVD entertainment systems and a rear seat refrigerator included as standard.

Analysts say world demand for such 'super luxury' saloons is around 9,000 to 12,000 units a year.

DaimlerChrysler expects to sell 1,000 Maybachs each year, with the US taking about 40% of production, but has not yet announced the Stateside launch date.
