It has been reported that DaimlerChrysler AG will idle all 3,300 workers at the Dodge assembly plant this week to reduce the number of Neons waiting to be sold. The Belvidere, Ill., plant, which builds the Dodge and Plymouth Neons, will be shut down for the week starting Monday (07/08/00), two weeks after the workers returned from an annual summer shutdown that began July 3. They will get 95 percent of their regular pay under the United Auto Workers union contract.
