GM Daewoo Auto and Technology's Matiz Creative city car has received the highest rating in frontal offset crash tests on mini-cars and small trucks from the Korea Insurance Development Institute.

It's the first city car to receive the highest rating of Grade 1.

The test, carried out by KIDI's Korea Automobile Insurance Repair Research and Training Centre, crashed vehicles at 64km/h, exposing 40 percent of the vehicle's width to the barrier using the same methods as the United States' Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Matiz is widely exported as the Chevrolet Spark.
