Citroen's redesigned C5 D-segment model has now made it as far as 'Down Under'.

Australian sales, through local importer Ateco Automotive, begin on 6 September with both sedan and Tourer wagon body styles available.

Citroen was a pioneer of modern diesel engines in Australia - about 85% of the outgoing C5 line were sold there with turbodiesel power. The redesigned line will feature the brand's first six cylinder diesel - the 150kW 440Nm 2.7-litre twin turbo V6 first introduced with the flagship C6.

Ateco managed to get sufficient early production at the French factory to bring its launch forward six weeks.

"The new Citroen C5 has been warmly welcomed in Europe as a significant advance on the existing car, and offering new levels of performance and economy in a stunning new body, so we expect it to be another success for Citroen in Australia," a spokesman said.
