INDIA: Bridgestone plans retail blitz

Tyre-maker Bridgestone hope to break the stranglehold of domestic tyre makers by expanding its network of centres across India and offering high-end services such as nitrogen inflation and 3D wheel alignment.
Domestic tyre producers control 70% of the market. Chennai-based MRF is the nation's largest tyre company, followed by Apollo Tyres, JK Tyres and Ceat.
Bridgestone plans to expand its "Super Select" brand showrooms to 200 around the country by 2011 from the current 140. It is also expanding its manufacturing plant in Madhya Pradesh state.
