USA: Bridgestone controversy forces Explorer recall - importers
Two importers of Ford motor cars said Monday (14/8/00) they will recall 1,104 Ford Explorer sports-utility-vehicles (SUVs) equipped with the controversial Bridgestone/Firestone tyres, according to Kyodo News Service/Associated Press (14/8/00). The tyres on the SUVs - 726 of which were imported between August 1996 and December 1999 with the remainder imported between November 1990 and September 1992 - will be replaced free of charge, the importers said.
