USA: BorgWarner signs deal for Ford engine parts
BorgWarner has signed a deal to supply cam and oil pump drive systems for Ford's new family of in-line four-cylinder engines. Annual production estimates are expected to make it the largest engine programme in the company's history. The new engines replace those that currently use rubber timing belts, reflecting a trend among vehicle manufacturers to favour chains over belts, because chains are stronger and more durable and therefore improve performance and reduce warranty costs.
