BMW is celebrating a 56.9 percent growth in Brazilian new car sales so far this year, writes Rogério Louro Alves.

The German luxury car maker sold 720 cars in Brazil between January and May 2001 compared with 459 units in the first five months of 2000.

"We will sell about 1,650 cars this year, a rise of 20 percent compared with 2000", predicted BMW do Brasil president André Mueller Carioba.
