INDIA: BMW looks for solar gain at Chennai plant
By the end of 2016 BMW aims to meet 20% of the electricity needs at its Chennai plant in India from solar power.
At present, the company meets 6% of its electricity requirements from solar power.
The company plans to get a solar farm built at the factory in the first quarter of 2016, Bloomberg reported. Solar electricity is cheaper than electricity bought from the local grid and its tariff is fixed for five years.
