Troubled AvtoVAZ says it expects output to jump nearly 50% in 2010 as conditions in the Russian car market improve.

However, that would still leave output way below pre-crisis levels. AvtoVAZ vehicle production declined by 63% 294,737 Lada cars and 43,047 assembly kits last year.

AvtoVAZ plans to produce around 446,000 Ladas and 51,000 assembly kits in 2010, with 15,300 cars set to be made this month.

The firm, currently being bailed out by the Russian government, expects conditions in the Russian car market to improve in 2010, helped by a recently announced scrappage scheme as well as a slowly recovering Russian economy.
