Automotive Insulations (AI) is to supply Happich UK with acoustic and thermal insulation systems in a drive to expand its presence in Britain.

AI already supplies UK-based Volkswagen unit Bentley and Tata Motors' Jaguar.

"We are delighted to be chosen as Happich's strategic alliance partner for the UK," said AI managing director Jim Griffin. " The company has a well-respected name in the international marketplace and we are looking forward to bringing out a new range of innovative products for the UK automotive industry.

"We have made significant investments into technology which will enable us to continue developing innovative and high quality products."

AI, which was taken over by the current management in 2006, has expanded during the past 12 months, doubling its workforce and investing over GBP0.5m (US$822,000) in new equipment.

First established in 1966, AI now employs 45 staff in a range of research, engineering and administrative positions.

Happich UK will be based at Automotive Insulation's site in Warwickshire in the English Midlands with support from its corporate headquarters in Germany.
