NEW ZEALAND: Automakers eye a 100,000 sales year

New vehicle registrations in New Zealand in November continued their strong run towards the end of the year, a local automakers' association said.
According to government registration data sales, last month rose 17% year on year to 8,518 new vehicles.
Passenger car registrations rose 14.9% to 6,484 with commercial vehicles up 24.5% to 2,097 verse 1,684).
Year to date sales were up 19% to 93,044.
"Our goal of breaking the 100,000 unit bracket now looks achievable said Perry Kerr, chief executive officer of the Motor Industry Association.
“Analysing the various segments for November, the SUV market continues to dominate taking 28% (2,416 units) of total new vehicle registrations, followed by the small segment with 20% (1,686 units) with the light commercial utility market accounting for 16% (1,369) of total registrations” he added.
Toyota retained its lead with 1,190 passenger car registrations, followed by General Motors' Holden (673) and Hyundai (624).
Toyota sold 578 commercial vehicles, followed by Nissan (253) and Ford (231).
The top three selling passenger cars for November were the Toyota Corolla (462), Holden Captiva (319) and the Toyota Yaris (267). In the commercial segment the Toyota Hilux remained number one spot with 350 units followed by the Nissan Navara (247) and Toyota's Hilux (199).

Another Strong Month
New vehicle registrations continue their strong run towards the end of the year. Just released NZTA registration data shows for November there were 8,518 new vehicle registrations which was up 17.1% (1,253 units) on the same month last year (7,328 units). Passenger car registrations were up 14.9% (840 units) on November 2011 (6,484 verse 5,644), with commercial vehicles up 24.5% (413 units – 2,097 verse 1,684).
Year to date the new vehicle industry is running 19% (14,880 units) ahead of 2011 (93,044 verse 78,164).
